Shes an oldie, but a real beauty

On this job we were tasked to do the following,

  • Install new brake bands and steering clutches
  • Install new gears, bearings and seals in the left hand final drive
  • Repair and reinforce the right hand main A-Frame

A big task list but at Country Tradies & Construction we just took it in our stride and got on with it.

The first stage was the main cab removal so we could access the rear transmission housing.

If you’ve ever worked on dozer’s – you would know that’s not an easy task as it may seem on first view 🙂

With the cab removed and the new brake linings and steering clutches installed it was time to take on the final drive repair.

We fabricated a 50 ton hydraulic removal tool in order to remove the drive sprocket.

With the left hand A-Frame out of the way and the drive sprocket removed we stripped the final drive.

With a full set of new bearings, a new transmission driver sprocket and a set of new seals it was time to reassemble the final drive.

The A-Frame had done a lot of serious work, the red paint indicates all the cracked welds and the like that need repairing.

But a good result result in the end with the A-Frame full repaired and reinstalled.
